GIVE Over 40,000 Euros collected

Over €40,000 collected during General Soft Drinks Fund Raising weekend

GIVE - An event organised by employees of the General Soft Drinks Co Ltd, in aid of The Malta Community Chest Fund came to an end on Sunday 22nd August following three days of entertainment, music and activities at the bottling plant of The General Soft Drinks in Marsa. Throughout the event, over €30,000 were collected and an additional €10,000 have been pledged.

GIVE was inaugurated by Deputy Prime Minister Tonio Borg on Friday 20th August at the GSD plant, where he was welcomed by Chev. Maurice Mizzi on behalf of the directors and shareholders of Mizzi Organisation and Maria Micallef, General Manager of The General Soft Drinks.

Ms. Micallef said: "I would like to sincerely thank all those who have contributed to the success of this event, including our suppliers, sponsors, media, journalists, performers, The Malta Community Chest Fund and all those who attended. It was a challenging project yet I believe thanks to everyone's support, especially our employees, not only for coming up with the concept of GIVE, however also for of all the hours they dedicated on a voluntary basis, we have managed to make this event a success. We are pleased to have collected this considerable sum for The Malta Community Chest Fund."

Chev. Maurice Mizzi said: "We are very proud of our employees for their generosity and perseverance and immediately agreed to support this event. In fact we, as Mizzi Organisation firmly support these types of initiatives."

Between Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd August, the plant was also visited by Labour Party MP Carmelo Abela and Acting President Anton Tabone respectively.

This was the first time that the plant was open to the general public and visitors had the opportunity to actually tour the bottling plant which proved to be very popular. Other activities included: races around the plant, car and motorbike exhibitions, sports, Segway tracks, children's area with animators, stilt walkers, bouncing castles and much more. There were also equestrian shows, open-air restaurants and performances by top singers, bands, DJs and personalities.

GIVE was broadcast on ONE TV and Favourite Channel during Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening and viewers also had the opportunity to donate money via SMS.
